This position is located in the U.S. Army Human Resources Command, The Adjutant General Directorate, Casualty and Mortuary Affairs Operations Center, Fort Knox, KY 40122.

This position is Temporary Not-to-Exceed one year but may be extended up to an additional (1) year.

Duties

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or specialized experience requirements described below. Experience required: To qualify based on your work experience, your resume must describe at least one year of specialized experience which prepared you to do the work in this job.

GS-11 Level - Specialized experience is defined as: Experience interpreting regulations to answer inquiries; utilizing automated systems to maintain databases; utilizing various applications to verify personnel data. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency (knowledge, skills, abilities) in the following areas:

  • Knowledge of investigation procedures
  • Knowledge of automated systems
  • Knowledge of policies and regulations
  • Skill in analysis and evaluation
  • Skill in effective written communication

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade, GS-09 (or equivalent).

Education Qualification:

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required specialized experience in order to qualify. For this job, you may qualify if your education meets the definitions below:

  • Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree OR
  • Completed 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree from an accredited college or university OR
  • Related LL.M

Combining Experience and Education: Combinations of successfully completed post-high school education from an accredited college or university and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements and may be computed by first determining education as a percentage of the education required for the grade level; and then adding the two percentages. The total percentages must equal at least 100 percent to qualify for that grade level. Only graduate education in excess of the amount required for the next lower grade level may be used to qualify for positions at grade GS-11. (To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of graduate education above 1 year by 10. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify.)

Only degrees from accredited colleges or universities recognized by the Department of Education are acceptable to meet positive education requirements or to substitute education for experience.
