Position Summary:

The Pharmacy Technician I - Specialty assists team members, physicians and patients in the daily activities of data entry, fulfillment, and assists in clarifying physician orders which are dispensed to our patients, or patient’s physician’s offices. These orders are shipped by our client’s third party vendors.

Key Responsibilities:

· Counts, packages, and labels unit for inspection by pharmacist

· Assists pharmacists as directed, including filling orders and preparing labels

· Maintains pharmacy inventory and performs clerical duties

· Maintains strong knowledge of pharmacy policies and government regulations and performs dispensing duties accordingly

· Assists with quality improvement initiatives

· Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required

Shift: 11:30am to 8:00pm

Physical Demands: May sit, stand, stoop, bend and walk intermittently during the day. May sit or stand seven (7) to ten (10) hours per day. May be necessary to work extended hours as needed. Finger dexterity to operate office equipment required. May need to lift up to twenty-five (25) pounds on occasion. Visual acuity to see and read fine prints. Specific vision abilities required by this role include close vision, color vision and the ability to adjust focus. Must be able to hear normal voice sounds. The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this role.

Required Qualifications:

· Current clear and active state Board of Pharmacy Technician Registration, if required by the state

· Excellent communication skills demonstrated by proven success working in a team-oriented environment

· Ability to express ideas clearly both written and oral communications

· Strong attention to detail

· Ability to handle multiple tasks effectively

· Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and procedure manuals

· Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra

· Ability to common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form

· Flexibility to change priorities as needed

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PTCB Certification

  • Previous specialty pharmacy experience

  • 6 months of prescription processing experience

Education:

· High School Graduate or equivalent GED

· Current clear and active state Board of Pharmacy Technician Registration, if required by the state
