Under general direction of the Director of Pharmacy assists with all purchasing activities of the department in order to maintain an efficient operation of drug distribution and control within the facility.

Performs all aspects of drug purchasing. Maintains accurate pharmaceutical records as required by Federal law. Performs processing of product returns and credits. Reconciles credits received. Supervises purchasing activities of other personnel effectively. Possesses working knowledge of inventory management principles. Ensures contract compliance and inventory control. Regularly validates invoices to ensure contract pricing is loaded correctly Ensures inventory control procedures and processes are in place and develops metrics for reporting and monitoring Trains other department personnel to ensure control processes are followed at all times Trains Pharmacy Purchasing Agents at other health system locations as needed to ensure consistency of product procurement monitoring of metrics and availability of required bar coded products Quantify and report savings achieved through inventory coordination Performs documents and reports purchasing audits as requested Ensures bar coding and packaging requirements/needs are met Oversees and trains repackaging associates and ensures adequate supplies of bar coded product Assists in and keeps abreast of contract issues with the various manufacturers. Ensures letters of commitment (LOC) are on file when required. Performs other related duties as assigned. Qualifications: Requires broad training in fields such as medical office administration pharmacy purchasing or similar vocations generally obtained through completion of associate’s degree program pharmacy technician certification or equivalent combination of experience and education. Normally requires one (1) to two (2) years directly related and progressively responsible experience.
