The Production Engineer is a technical resource for Operations personnel, applying technical skills within the Manage Production work process, to optimize plant operations, resolves plant problems and enables safe production of high value, high quality caulks and sealants. The engineer works as a member of the site operating team ensuring excellence in site safety, Customer service, operations and maintenance. The role provides a technical resource to assist all work teams on daily operations, process performance improvement and new product scale-up.
Active support and participation in Site environmental, health and safety initiatives to drive EH&S excellence. Participates in and / or leads Management of Change Reviews.
Understands all applicable Sealant process technology, equipment and control technology. Works with Technical Advising and plant personnel it to optimize operations, meeting DPS Business and Elizabethtown site goals for safety, customer service, quality and cost control.
Lead optimization activities and ongoing process improvement initiatives, including projects for EH&S compliance, reliability, capacity, process consistency, quality and cost reduction.
Participates in advanced trouble shooting and coaches others to learn these skills. Utilizes Root Cause Analysis techniques to identify and drive improvements to prevent recurrent issues.
Implements best practices in operations in order to optimize operations. Ensures Most Effective Technology (MET), and specific Operating Discipline requirements are in place.
Performs appropriate Manage Production roles as determined by Plant / Business.
Understands and applies skills and knowledge in Statistical Process Control (SPC) technology, to maximize plant asset utilization and produce high value, quality products.
Initiates changes to Plant Operating procedures to ensure they are valid and up to date. Works with Production Technicians in this respect.
Networks with other engineers on site and within the DPS business to leverage knowledge on plant operations.
As required communicate technical information and issues to plant personnel, Technology or Expertise centers.
As required participates on and leads teams in his/her area of accountability.
A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering is required.
A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.
- 2-3 years industrial or manufacturing experience is preferred.
