Owens & Minor Manager Process Engineering in Louisville, Kentucky
Responsible for the identification, planning, implementation and management of best practices for efficient operations.Facilitates site adoption of best practices through data collection, analysis, and change management.Following implementation, monitors metrics to confirm performance to goals.Establishes measurement and reporting of productivity standards for Owens & Minor operations. Collaborates with peers to identify opportunities to improve productivity and quality through process improvements and adjusts standards as needed. Solves business problems in order to connect the world of medical products to the point of care.Advocates for higher levels of quality, efficiency, and throughput. Applies subject matter expertise, facilitation, and change management skills to move teammates swiftly from problem identification to permanent resolution.Conducts root cause analysis to get to the bottom of business problems.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1.Leads Operations adoption of best operational practices:
a.Identifies potential best practices within area of expertise and calculates initial return on investment by which to prioritize opportunities;
b.Develops detailed project plan to further define potential best practice, including as needed: data collection, statistical analysis, process mapping, value stream analysis, and other techniques as needed to confirm potential forbreakthrough performance;
c.Tests potential best practices to provide objective data supporting breakthrough performance and capture estimated benefits;
d.Works with subject matter experts in field and Home Office to refine best practices and maximize benefits to Company;
e.Documents fully best practices in standard operating procedures (developing job aids, templates, and tools as needed);
f.Communicates results to stakeholders;
g.Monitors level of best practice adoption across Company.
2.Works as part of a team in support of implementation of a Labor Management system and development of engineered standards for all operational tasks:
a.Develops and maintains expertise with software in support of Labor Management processes. Works with field management team on the utilization of Labor Management tools which will help improve operating efficiencies and quality.
b.Ensures engineered standards are fair and achievable from a company and teammate perspective. Communicates the need for changes to standards and facilitates the change once approved.
c.Works with field management teams and Home Office management teams to enhance understanding and utilization of the tools available within the Labor Management system.
3.Assists with the creation of reports and the mining of archived data in support of other projects or business opportunities.
4.Uses data modeling tools to solve complex multivariate strategic business problems.
5.Collaborates with regional continuous operations improvement teammates to drive sustained productivity gains.
SUPPLEMENTAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1.Performs additional duties as directed.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
1.Four-year Bachelor's degree required; Engineering degree preferred
2.Industrial Engineering Professional Certification, Quality Certification, or similar relevant certification strongly preferred
3.At least five to seven years of experience in supply chain operations, quality, and/or project management
4.Or any combination of education and experience appropriate to fulfill the above requirements

6.Demonstrated expertise in leading large complex projects, including application of project planning principles, critical path management, task development /management and methodologies related to process
7.Proven ability to motivate and direct the work of others and influence teammates at all levels and various functions and drive change throughout assigned areas.
8.Demonstrated expertise in team and meeting facilitation.
9.Knowledge of Six Sigma, Lean, 8D, Theory of Constraints, Design of Experiments, Quality Functional Deployment, Statistical Process Control, Multivariate Statistical Analysis Methods, and other problem-solving methods and tools strongly preferred.
10.Familiarity with Minitab, JMP, Llamasoft, or similar statistical and data modeling software package preferred.
