Water Heating Senior Manager – Sales
This Senior Manager, National Accounts - Contract position will be responsible for leading the business development and sales activities associated with GE Appliances’ Water Heating micro-enterprise. This position will require direct and daily ownership of these activities, and the leader in this role will be expected to deliver and maintain robust customer relationships, sales commitments, and to also organize, staff and lead an appropriate sales team to support the sales of water heaters in the US.
What you will Do
This Sales Leader position will be responsible for leading the business development and sales activities associated with GE Appliances’ Water Heating micro-enterprise. This position will require direct and daily ownership of these activities, and the leader in this role will be expected to deliver and maintain robust customer relationships, sales commitments, and to also organize, staff and lead an appropriate sales team to support the sales of water heaters in the US.
This role will be responsible for developing an effective strategy for approaching each channel served with these products, and to demonstrate creative and aggressive thinking to gain ground quickly for revenue generation. Channels to be served will be broad, including retail, plumbing wholesale, and builders as well as other identified channel opportunities. During the first year of the micro enterprise, this role will work closely with the Marketing Leader focusing on re-engagement with prior and current customers, utilities, and industry advocates, as well as well as new customer generation to gain early interest and commitments to GE branded water heaters.
This role will be responsible for appropriately engaging the established GE Appliances sales organization to enhance the micro enterprise growth toward the defined revenue goals. Working with the Marketing Leader to help find synergistic engagement with the current GEA sales organization will be a key to long term success of the micro enterprise. All planning, forecasting, execution, monitoring and reporting of sales activity will be the responsibility of the Sales Leader. Planning for budgetary needs year over year will also be required of this role. The sales leader will define the appropriate organizational growth, outside support, and other needs to present the product to the industry in the best manner.
What you need to Succeed
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college; MBA / Marketing degree preferred
Minimum 5 years of experience in one or more of the following area(s): Marketing, Sales, or Product Management in a business to consumer structured role
Demonstrated ability to work well within a cross functional team
Self-starter with entrepreneurial spirit
Strong communication, presentation and influencing skills
Must be willing and able to travel to GEA sites, customers, and suppliers as needed.
Significant sales experience will be required for success in this role, with contract sales experience being beneficial
Direct experience with water heater sales
Strong understanding of water heater customer channels is strongly desired
Highly self-motivated, self-directed
Thrive on the daily challenge of creating sales opportunities to aggressively grow a new business
Must be able to work well within a cross functional team developing a new micro enterprise, and must be open to active debate, dialog and full cross functional engagement to drive the new micro enterprise forward
Strengths in record keeping, communication, and follow through are critical to the role
As a critical role within the Water Heating micro enterprise, this Sales Leader position will report to the Product Leader. The person selected will be an integral part of the Product Line leadership team defining the commercial path as well as the product platforms and features to create the intended growth of the micro enterprise to become a successful full line water heater source for the US.
